Discovering Belém, one of the Lisbon's prettiest neighbourhoods, also means discovering a rich heritage.
Starting at the Jerónimos Monastery, there is a whole world to discover: the tasty Pastéis de Belém (custard tarts), a Tropical Garden with exotic species, the modern Belém Cultural Centre, the Monument to the Discoveries, which perpetuates the heroic feats of the ancestral navigators...
And, finally, the Tower of Belém, which proudly guards the entrance to the River Tagus, which, as the poet Fernando Pessoa wrote, "... is more beautiful than the river that runs through my village".
